Kind Hands Respite Care Cottage for Children

Kind hands have set up a purpose-built cottage, offering respite care for children who are aged under 16 years, have a disability and/or are medically fragile and/or are technology dependent. Although the facility is located in Whangarei, it is intended to benefit all children in the above categories throughout Northland, it is the only such facility offering respite care to these children.

So what does
‘Respite Care’ mean?

Respite care is temporary care of a sick or disabled person, providing relief for their usual Carer.

Carers you can trust

This respite service is also available for families and caregivers who need support or a break from caring for a child with a disability or medical condition. Kind Hands is staffed by a team of registered nurses and trained carers on a 24 hour basis over the weekend.

Purpose built facility

The Kind Hands Respite Care Cottage is designed to accommodate any child with additional needs, while at the same time providing a homelike environment. Kind Hands is a home away from home. The cottage has been designed to make it a child friendly home where families can leave their child to be cared for by experienced and qualified staff.
